No woman is asleep so soundly that the sound of a guitar wouldn’t lure her to the window.
Spanish proverb

MY PASSION IS BUILDING CLASSICAL GUITARS IN VARIOUS SIZES, TYPES AND SHAPES.

This includes multi stringed guitars with up to 18 strings, guitars of different tunings and sizes, from the octave guitar to the bass guitar. Also crossover guitars and even archtop jazz guitars with nylon strings are made in my studio.

I started my career as a luthier in 1990. Ever since I passed my journeyman’s examination in 1995, I have been focusing on building the classical guitars.

The following pages offer some insight into my life as a master luthier. You will also find various information on, photography of and news about my work.

All the best,
Daniel Zucali

INSTRUMENTS

Anyone working in a creative and hands-on profession knows the feeling of deep connection to their creations. Each individual guitar tells its own story right from the beginning. My instruments are handcrafted and each one carries a piece of soul within it.

Since all my guitars are built predominantly by hand, many custom requests can be easily fulfilled. I always take into account the playing style and preferences of each guitarist. Accordingly, every instrument is crafted from suitable tonewoods and individually tailored. Ideally, the guitarist visits my workshop for a detailed consultation and picks up the instrument in person.

Feel free to reach out if you’re interested in my classical guitars or custom-made models. I’m a communicative person and truly value direct contact with my customers.

Without music, life would be a mistake.

... Daniel Zucali has done much more than just amplify a nylon-string guitar - he has managed to give the instrument greater strength!

Past EVENTS

Hello!

Every year there are countless – and above all wonderful – events, but unfortunately I can only attend a few of them.

I’m often on the road, and usually with my instruments! I’m looking forward to hearing your music, meeting friends, and getting to know new and interesting people.

You’re warmly invited to arrange a meeting with me in advance. That way, I can make sure to give proper attention to everyone interested in my guitars.

Looking forward to seeing you!

If you are interested in some events that I have been a part of in the past, please feel free to take a look at some of them down below.

In the master workshop for guitar making | Daniel Zucali

As every year, on these two days you will have the opportunity to gain an insight into my work as a guitar maker ... from the living tree to the sounding musical instrument.
Guests such as Reinhard Bogner, who did his apprenticeship at my workshop, will be presenting his Ukulele. Udo Rösner, who builds excellent pickups and amps, will also be here again, and will provide plenty of shop talk and interesting topics.
Because there are always some musicians visiting with their own instruments, music is usually played spontaneously late into the night on Saturday evening.

On Wednesday 25.09.2024 from 6 pm
At the culture centre Böllerbauer /club room in Stadt Haag.

Satish Sharma , a raga player from New Delhi will be visiting me and will definitely be on set. More top-class musicians such as Adam Rafferty,
Wolfgang Sambs and Andreas Haidecker have also showed interest in coming. Anyone who enjoys making music (including non-guitarists J) is welcome to join in or just listen.
To simplify the organization, please register on the “Termino” platform at the following link:

Workshop

”Playing” an instrument already begins while it is being created. In order to achieve the desired result, the instrument maker has to become one with his instrument. While I am conceptualizing the way the instrument will be constructed, and while searching for the right materials, I already identify myself closely with the emerging instrument.

The art of woodworking goes beyond pure structure, acoustics and handicraft. My ”game with the instrument” takes place in a cosy studio far away from the stress of the city. Taking time for what’s important, feelings from nature and the demands of performance, emotion and music are – all this is incorporated into guitars.

… True mastery is in the details and their organic fusion respectively creating harmony between sound construction, the best possible materials, contemporary designs and artisan craftsmanship. Daniel Zucali proves to have it all …

The most important material in guitar building is, of course, wood. Depending on how and what a guitarist plays, different types of wood must be selected to build the right guitar.
Anyone working in a creative and constructive profession knows the feeling of a deep connection to their works. Each guitar tells its own story from the very beginning.
Many musicians underestimate the value of a professionally serviced guitar. After just a few hours of careful work, many “worn-out” instruments come back to life.
Knowledge does not come by reading but rather by thinking about the read.
